It feels like I’m goin’ home again,
that place in my heart
where I’ve always been.
Not so much a place,
but more a state of mind,
I feel like I’m goin’ home again.
Far from being lost in a foreign land,
there’s that place in my heart,
and I’m goin’ back again.
Feelin’ the dirt beneath my feet,
smells like my heart’s land
that place I’ve always been:
comfort wrapped around me,
a well-worn robe:
conformed to my body through wear.
softened like my soul,
and always there,
from way back when,
way back from when I first began:
I feel like I’m goin’ home again.

Thanks for the mention in your post!
Love this poem! Home and the heart are intertwined and can’t be separated.
That’s so true, no matter “where” home is. Thanks, Janna!
Janet – this should be set to music. I can just hear the strumming of the acoustic guitar and the song being sung in a strong clear voice!
Thanks, Vidya! It probably could be put to music, however, I know no musicians . . . thank you for reading, and have a wonderful day!
I read this poem out loud as it’s beautiful. It touched that part of me that knows where home is. We need this connection while journeying through life.
Thanks, Marie! I always appreciate your comments, and I’m grateful to have you as a regular reader! Have a wonderful day!
don’t you just love goin’ home again?….love, love, love it….so happy you’re goin’ there…. : )
Janet…I just noticed…maybe you were using this?? going=goin’= go in ……..go inside…. how about that?
That’s what it’s all about – our home is not a place–it’s our soul…
yes…what it’s all about…the home being the soul….that I know….and a place of deep refuge it is….
Mmm. Yes!
Wonderful that home is always with us! Thanks, Kathy, for reading and commenting.
