Eternity,
timelessness,
devoid of measure and space.
Linear brain
devises a way
to somehow exact a place
where all exists
(where no thing is)
mortal mind insists
on one point,
a place,
on one moment,
a time,
infinitely huge and small,
stretching out endlessly in a line,
forgetting time
is three-dimensional,
(yet, not at all),
only a construct, a tool of our mind,
a vain attempt to
define what is
everything and nothing,
forever and never:
we cannot comprehend.
So we build a box,
a tidy, measured square,
time marking our lives in
seconds, minutes, hours,
and years spent there.
If not for us looking
it would not be,
but for our eyes
there’d be nothing to see,
but for our ticking clocks
there’d be only one moment:
this eternal Now.

Takes a special person to be so aware of time. I enjoyed the rhythm of this piece so very much. It was so easy to read and yet held much to think about.
Again, brilliant, my friend!
Thanks, Terri! So nice to hear from you, and glad the nuptials went well!
Wow, I say wow a lot, LOL, but that is exactly what I said out loud after reading this.
How I wish I could transcend time but realize the illusion of time and space is what let’s Awareness express Itself in this planet. However, if we become aware that time is just an idea/imagination we will see reality differently… I am willing to do this, so this is I why I enjoyed reading this spiritual poem.
Yes, our constructs of time and space do allow us to be grounded in this human state. They are fascinating concepts! Thanks for reading and commenting back!
This is beautiful. Eterminity is a hard concept to wrap my mind around. Like the picture you posted with this, too.
Thanks for reading, Janna. It IS a difficult concept, since our minds demand linear concepts!
Ha! It’s so complicated, I can’t even spell it (eternity). When I saw the notification of your response, I noticed the botched spelling in my original comment
Didn’t even notice the spelling. Was much more interested in what you had to say!!
Wow, Janet! This is just sooooo deep! You are so adept at simplifying abstract concepts in such jaw-dropping way. I thing I’m incoherent trying to comment here now. It’s simply brilliant! Keep up the good work.
Thank you!
emptiness well reflected in your words
Thanks for reading and following! It is appreciated!!
Wonderfully expressed….ah…time….tumbling around in my attempts to understand it…
Well, since it isn’t real, I think it’s impossible to understand . . .
That’s it…to just let go of trying to define or understanding it…Janet, I just looked to my right….and that’s on a white board just to my right..the” time is suspicious” background that says..”be suspicious….of trying to define time”….I”m about to move that “page” to the kitchen cupboard door…and maybe I’ll make up another one with “since it isn’t real, it’s impossible to understand”… : )
That student of yours is an amazing child! What a mind he must have!!! He’ll probably end up being the next Stephen Hawkings!
Not an easy thing to explain, yet, you’ve done it.
Thank you for reading!
