Chatter, chatter, chatter, chatter,
most of that stuff
clattering ’round in my head
really doesn’t matter.
It’s annoying and persistent,
like a fly when trying to sleep,
the more I flail and resist it,
the more it taunts at me.
It thrills at my annoyance,
it’s got me in its grip.
It pokes at me, and teases me,
Hey you! Come out to play!
Instead of engaging, and
chasing it away,
for now
I’ll let it stay.
Soon, for lack of attention,
not even an
honorable mention,
it’ll lose its pointless way.

When my mind starts chattering and be annoying as a fly, I am going to remember your poem as it describes perfectly what we all experience! Thanks for writing this, it helps!
Thanks, Marie!
Most of the stuff clattering around in my head doesn’t matter either! I like it when things just go away when I ignore them. Unfortunately, this doesn’t work with housework
I’ve noticed the same thing, strange, huh?
Haha this made laugh, “It thrills at my annoyance”, I know this feeling and how I don’t like it…the greatest defense is to ignore it or allow other beautiful thoughts or even sleep..thank you so much for sharing this.
You are welcome, and I’m glad it made you laugh!! Smiles are good!!
